Summer time and New Mexico is blooming more gloriously than ever.
In the seven years we have lived here; this is the first of true monsoons.
We can still hear the Santa Fe river flowing past our door,
and several shades of unfamiliar green surrounds our area.
And the guest room will soon be available!
We had a recent cancellation, but want to offer options
to those planning on traveling our way.
The guest room will be available again after August 5th,
through mid-fall when we hope to entertain a guest from Connecticut.
Golden light from the mountain aspens will greet you in the fall;
thrill to the sensation of roasting green chile all around the city,
and explore the ever-changing terrain
during our mild fall days and just-getting-cooler autumn nights.
Winters are also beautiful here;
soft snowfalls,
glistening frost in the mornings,
cool walks around our small city,
and bursts of circling winter wind will surround and astound you.
Please let us know when we can help you plan
your visit to The Land of Enchantment.

Grandma's Horse
Received a sweet memory from a friend the other day.
She had stayed at the Bunkhouse a while ago,
but still recalled the bronze horse that graces
the east window in the guestroom:
"So pretty,
I remember the shadow
of it passing over me
silhouetted by the dawn
rising into the Bunkhouse guest room,
it was one of the nicest part of the day...
Almost as good as the smell of toast!"
Thanks Cat.
Grandma and I both appreciate
great lovers of art.

Touch-up
I've freshened up the walls in our guestroom
and a few other places.
I keep opening old cans of paint
dipping in the brush
finding chips
and faded spots
and cat-prints
and making everything fresh again.
Washing
Sage Green
Belgium Waffle
and
Horchata
(I love the names of paint colors...)
out of the bristles
and draping the brush over the sink to dry.
Touch-ups are done
and visitors are welcome!

Hankering for
Memories
of Dani's 1978 Ford Gran Torino;
monster motor, wide tires,
AC/DC on the 8 track player
(windows wide open and singing at the tops of our lungs)
shiny and sparkling clean with multi-colored racing stripes
and that itty-bitty back window no one could ever see out of...
Cruising with our brand new driver's licenses
out of town and up the River Road
in search of...
pizza burgers.
Yes, Pizza Burgers.
The best we could find were in Port Byron (6 miles)
although we tried LeClaire (6.3 miles)
Cordova (11.5 miles)
and Albany (20.8 miles)
and probably even Wisconsin state line (103 miles).
And now The Howlin' Dog Master Chef has re-created my dream pizza burger.

Dani:
I'm smiling
as I think of
AC/DC
you and I
pizza burgers
and that big monster car.
Any other good places for this wonderful burger in Santa Fe?
How about in your neck of the woods?

Santa Fe International Folk Art Festival
The Santa Fe International Folk Art Market
takes place this weekend.
As we have for every year that we've been here;
we are going!
These artists travel from all over the world to bring their work
and enjoy a weekend filled with meeting new people and
forming new bonds of friendship.
Every year I but punched tin from a tinsmith

and decorated gourds from an artist who takes my breath away with her intricate work.

Send us a note or give us a call
if you are traveling through!
